I have spent more than four decades in this field of safety. My mission is to change the mind of one owner, one CEO, one employee, and to protect the future of the employees' families and the organization.
Schedule a 30-Minute ConversationMy story
I have spent more than four decades in safety, and one truth has followed me throughout my career:
The greatest risks are often not the hazards we know. They are the assumptions we have stopped questioning.
I help leaders move beyond safety built on policies, compliance, and assumptions and rebuild it around humanity, accountability, leadership alignment, and measurable trust. Because at the end of every shift, the most important measure of success is not simply what was produced or what the numbers say. It's about protecting your employees and the futures of their families.
My perspective was not developed in a classroom. It was forged across more than 4 decades of leadership from six years with the U.S. Air Force Security Police, to 23 years with the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, as a National Safety Examiner, five years as a Federal OSHA Investigator, seven years leading Safety By Design Consulting Service as CEO, and eight years serving as a Senior Safety Consultant for Sentry Insurance across the Midwest.
I am also the author of three #1 bestsellers: The Faces of Safety and Those Left Behind When Tragedy Strikes, The Humanistic Side of Safety, and Bridging the Leadership Gap.
But credentials are only part of the story.
I have witnessed the aftermath first hand.
I know what happens when a warning sign is dismissed, when a standard is known but not enforced, when an employee remains silent because trust has been lost, or when leadership believes something is happening on the floor that simply is not.
And I know what a preventable incident looks like when it is no longer a statistic on a dashboard.
It has a name.
It has a family.
It has an empty chair.
That is why I do this work.
Safety is not ultimately about production or quality; it's about protecting lives.

CXO 2.0 called this the most-watched session from the Las Vegas 2026 edition. I sat on this panel at the Bellagio.
The work now
You can also hear me on The Occupational Safety Leadership Podcast, talking through safety as a core value and the 10 values in The Faces of Safety.
The same challenge is on camera. Watch the videos.
When a job needs more than I bring into the room, I call on people I trust. See my safety partners.
Listen to the EpisodesThe 4 pillars
Alignment closes the gap between leadership intentions and the employee experience and turns organizational values into everyday leadership behavior.
Is not about blame or punishment. It is about having the courage to address what matters, reinforce what is expected, and ensure that what leadership says is important is reflected in what leadership allows.
When people feel heard, respected, and see leadership respond with meaningful action, trust stops being something leaders ask for and becomes something they earn. Trust moves at the speed of consistency, and every leadership action either strengthens it or weakens it.
When leaders genuinely see the individual behind the position, safety becomes more than compliance; it becomes a moral responsibility to protect, respect, and invest in your employees.
For most organizations, the strongest starting point is not the frontline. It is the leadership table.
I focus on Leadership Alignment designed to challenge assumptions, surface misalignment, clarify expectations, and establish what leaders are collectively prepared to own.
Only after leadership is aligned do we move deeper into the organization to supervisors, targeted presentations and workshops, and ultimately the frontline, where leadership decisions become everyday reality.
The direction is intentional: align the top, equip the middle, engage the frontline, and change the experience.
Because sustainable culture change cannot be pushed upward from the floor. Leadership must demonstrate it downward.
See How the Work Is DeliveredWhy I do this
Safety is about protecting lives and the families waiting at home. A policy does not hug a child at the end of a shift. A slogan does not sit at a kitchen table when someone does not come home.
I still do this so workers go home. God bless the families who already know what that costs.

The Speaker Lab
I completed The Speaker Lab so the message stays clear. Your people deserve information they can use, not a long talk they forget.
The work did not change. The way I carry it into the room did.

FAQ
Direct answers. Then a conversation if you want one.
Corporate functions, executive leadership retreats, national safety conferences, and industry training workshops. The room changes. The four pillars do not.
Schedule a 30-Minute conversation. Tell me your dates, your audience, and what is not working. I will tell you if this work is a fit.
Yes. I build sessions around the demands on your floor, not a generic deck. High-risk operations need that. So does every team that is tired of slogans.
Leadership alignment, accountability, trust, and humanity. The human cost of getting safety wrong. Treating safety as a core value instead of a compliance checklist.
Tell me where the gap is. In 30 minutes, I can start identifying where leadership intent and employee reality no longer align.
