Owner of the Plastic Company Refuses to Accept Responsibility

David A. Ward Sr.

Based on the below listed article I’m outraged that he feels he has no responsibility for the death of his employees.

As I stated in my previous article did they utilize, train, and implement their Emergency Action Plan (EAP) that was “posted in conspicuous areas of the plant many months before September 27th, 2024”? Was it written in a language that the employees understood? Was their training documented?

The water pooled in the parking lot was approximately six inches deep as indicated by the water level shown at the bottom of small passenger cars parked at the time reviewed by the company. However, any safety professional would tell you that you should not drive in standing water as it could stall your vehicle and cause you to lose control. It’s noted that six inches of water would reach the bottom of most cars and a foot of water could cause most vehicles to float.

Not only was the water an issue, but what about power lines, debris, and conditions of the parking lot and other roads?

The below-listed comments are a little too late to comfort the families who are suffering.

In times like these, words feel inadequate to express the depth of sorrow we are all feeling. The recent flood has devastated our plant and, more tragically, taken the lives of some of our dear colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones. I understand that there are two sides to every story, but pictures speak volumes of what happened. What do you think should the owner be held accountable for the company’s actions or lack thereof?
