What is the cost of an employees life?

The cost of a life…. can anyone put a price tag on an employee’s life?

Some companies believe so, as they expose their employees to hazardous conditions, lack of training, experience. who is accountable? I cannot believe that companies can be fined such a minuscule amount of money when a death occurs, and the company is found to be at fault.

How many more injuries, amputations, and fatalities are we going to accept before we say enough is more than enough.

Look at the names and ages of those who have recently died. OSHA.gov

What about the families that have been destroyed, crippled by financial ruin. Do you believe any amount of money can make them whole, bring back their loved one?

I get so upset it brings me to tears because I feel that no one, and I mean no one, thinks about the unseen faces of these tragedies and those are left behind to pick up the pieces.

Executives, supervisors, HR Managers, and Plant Managers I urge everyone to read The Faces of Safety and Those Left Behind When Tragedy Strikes. It will move you and hopefully change your thought process on the value of safety for your employees and their loved ones.

Families of those injured or killed at work need to speak out and let employers know that it’s no longer acceptable to place their loved ones in critically dangerous situations, trenching, tank cleaning, cement cutting, confined space, maintenance, and machine guarding just to name a few.

Are companies being held accountable for their actions or lack thereof or are they just getting away with taking the lives of their employees knowing that they’ll just be fined? They say it’s the cost of doing business REALLY!!

When you’re at work just look around at the hazardous conditions, and just imagine what your family’s life would be like if you were severely injured, or God forbid killed.

Accountability, without a doubt goes to the owner, CEO, CFO, COO of every company may they should be held criminally as well.
