Is your company SAFETY ready in 2025

It’s a question every company large, medium, or small, from one employee to thousands. First, is safety a core value of your company? Take your time before you answer, as this answer will be the cornerstone of your company if answered correctly.

Do you have a truly qualified, experienced safety professional/facilitator overseeing your program? Are you empowering and holding your other departments responsible for managing their safety program?

Safety should be every manager’s sole responsibility with the assistance of a safety professional to provide understanding, guidance, and training. The safety professional should be more of a facilitator than a manager. Why, because most companies have one safety professional and run three shifts, impossible, for that safety professional to manage anything.

Employees and supervisors/department heads have a unique bond and trust. Plus the supervisor should have an idea of the safety hazards that his/her employees are exposed to.

If you don’t have an effective safety program, then you need to invest in one. According to the National Safety Council for every dollar invested you have a return of six dollars. So why wouldn’t you invest in your employee’s safety?

First, determine that safety is and will be a core value from the day of this decision. Second, set expectations that every person in your company will understand, and discuss, and then it’s time to hold everyone accountable. How is your message being heard? Do you engage with your employees without anyone else to intervene?

Your safety program is only as effective as your employees make it…..if they don’t know your safety programs or your commitment to safety, it’s time they get the message straight from you.
